Praktiker is a large home improvement chain with more than 300 stores in Germany as well as eastern and southeastern Europe. For many years, the blue-and-yellow color combination (not unlike IKEA) plus Berthold Block with its crude outlines signalized discount prices for tools and do-it-yourself goods. Praktiker was known for their aggressive marketing campaigns; every German is familiar with slogans like “20% off everything – except pet food”. Today, Praktiker announced to file for insolvency.
