A fine use of Aztec, in two times two colors, for a single by French singer David Martial (b. 1935), released by CBS Records in 1975. Designer Thérèse Ruyant juxtaposes the rounded organic shapes with the geometric constructivist shapes of Futura Black for the artist’s name. The same combination of typefaces was also used for Martial’s second album Tamba from 1975.

While the cover typography captures the lightheartedness of the beguine music, the photo by Patrick Bertrand isn’t reproduced very well. It reminds me of the recent “Shirley Cards” episode of the 99% Invisible podcast which discusses the racial bias built into film and photo processing technology.
