This cover design is a rare example in which Lydian’s lowercase takes center stage. More often than not, Warren Chappell’s serifless roman is used in all caps.
The album features recordings of The Nutcracker Suite and the Polovetzki Dances from Prince Igor as performed by the Nord Deutsches Symphony Orchestra (Sinfonieorchester des Norddeutschen Rundfunks, today known as NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra) conducted by Wilhelm Röhr (a recording pseudonym by Wilhelm Schüchter). It was released in 1960 by Pye Golden Guinea Records in the UK and, with the same cover design, by Somerset Records in the US. Illustrations by Joe Krush.

the ts are all different; this is lettering based on a font, yes?
Good observation! Yes, you’re spot on. I’ve added the “lettering derived from typeface” tag. While the smaller lines appear to be typeset, the title was rendered manually. It was rather common for big letterforms to be finetuned. Typically such redrawing and retouching was done to achieve a sharper or more impactful reproduction. In this case, a desire for variation was also part of the equation – at least that’s what the different t bars suggest.
