Festival d’été de Québec (FEQ) is a major outdoor music festival that takes place in Quebec City since 1968. Usually it is known for a line-up comprising the biggest international stars and emerging artists from around the globe. However, after the 2020 edition had to be cancelled, the festival came back in 2021 on a smaller but very special scale. With the slogan Rebonjour (“hello again”) FEQ brought together 22 Quebec-based artists in what was described by the program director as “the strongest francophone line-up we’ve ever presented at a conventional summer festival.”
Throughout the design the Compressed styles of Queens by Kilotype are used alongside GT America by Grilli Type. Sporadically Akzidenz Grotesk Next by Berthold makes an appearance as well. Jolly illustrations and animations in vibrant summer colors play a central part of the identity. Sometimes in front of and sometimes behind the type, the playful interaction ensures that all elements are working seamlessly together.
In addition to social media graphics and posters, a set of promotional items of clothing was produced. Below you can see a jumper and a pair of socks as well as a very, very loooooong T-shirt that lists all of the music acts in the festival’s history.
