Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra – Mozart’s Symphony No. 35 in D major / Bach’s Suite No. 2 in B minor album art Photo(s) by Bart Solenthaler. Imported from Flickr on May 19, 2023. Artwork published in 1949. Source: www.flickr.com Uploaded to Flickr by Bart Solenthaler and tagged with “lydian”. License: All Rights Reserved. In his time as conductor of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (1938–1948), Fritz Reiner (1888–1963) made a few recordings with them for Columbia Records. This album with works by Mozart and Bach was released in 1949 by Columbia Masterworks. Loosely spaced Futura (mostly from the bold weight) is combined with Lydian Italic. The uncredited designer apparently found the design with portraits of the two composers and the type alone too austere, and sprinkled some dots over it.
