Conductor Bruno Walter, standing in what appears to be the counter of a giant rotated letter R, surrounded by reversed text set in Egmont. Designed by S.H. de Roos, Egmont was first cast by Amsterdam in 1932.
This recording of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 by the Philharmonic-Symphony Orchestra of New York was released by Columbia Masterworks Records in 1951. The design is credited to Robert J. Velde, art director at Columbia Records, and Siskind (photographer Aaron Siskind?).
