Originally issued as metal type in 1902, Frankonia saw a revival in the late 1960s. Here it’s used in tightly spaced all caps on the cover of Extra Soul Perception, an album by saxophonist Monk Higgins recorded in 1968 and released on the Solid State label.

I wonder how this was made, technically, the overlapping of both images. It would certainly be easy in Photoshop, but in 1968?
