Les Boréades and Plaire by Stéphane Vigny
This is a literal font in use like we rarely have the chance to see one. NaN Tragedy by Jean-Baptiste Morizot was here chosen for a proper tragedy layout. Since NaN Tragedy is also used for the word tragédie, it qualifies as proper LTypI. The version we see here is the pre-release one that was available from Future Fonts under the working title Txt25. The final version was released earlier this week with NaN – see also the microsite, infinite-tragedy.com.
Plaire is the first monograph dedicated to the work of the contemporary artist Stéphane Vigny. The bilingual publication (French and English) was issued by Amac in an edition of 500 copies. It’s accompanied by an artist’s print featuring an oral transcription of the libretto of Les Boréades by Jean-Philippe Rameau. This independently produced booklet comes in 30 signed and numbered copies. Both the book and booklet were designed by La Société – Julien Imbert & Guillaume Moitessier and are fully set in the different styles of NaN Tragedy Text including the italics.
