From Penguin Random House:

Jacqueline Woodson and Rafael López’s highly anticipated companion to their #1 New York Times bestseller The Day You Begin illuminates the power in each of us to face challenges with confidence.

The Year We Learned to Fly is an inspiring picture book for children. Marujo by PintassilgoPrints was chosen as the main font for its cover, which was designed by Marikka Tamura at Penguin Publishing Group. It’s paired with custom lettering (”FLY”) and Siseriff by Bo Berndal.

Marujo font is part of a family of 8 styles and was inspired by works from Arthur Bispo do Rosário, a striking Brazilian artist who lived for 50 years in a psychiatric institution and left a vast and diverse art production, mostly painted or embroidered. The institution in which he lived is now a museum dedicated exclusively to his work.
