Title sequence and trailer designed by Pablo Ferro for the 1968 American heist film The Thomas Crown Affair, directed by Norman Jewison and starring Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway.
For the title sequence, the titular Thomas Crown is set in Commercial Script with additional type set in Univers 67, sometimes in faux small caps. Ferro’s concept boards for an earlier version of the title sequence suggest that Umbra was considered before being replaced by Univers 67. This earlier typographic choice can also be partially seen in the trailer for the film, which uses Commercial Script and Umbra for most titles, with additional text set in Akzidenz-Grotesk (a.k.a. Standard).
