Clockwork Editions is a series of books with Gothic tales from the late 18th century, published by Lanternfish Press. For the cover designs of the first three volumes, Kimberly Glyder combined biological illustrations with typography in Melbourne (a version of Milton) and Mohave.

  1. After seeing this post, I went ahead and ordered this edition of The King In Yellow and just received it, having been curious about it ever since True Detective.

The body copy is Hoefler Text, which in my limited experience rarely shows up for body copy, so I enjoy seeing it used, though it appears to be the OS-bundled version, as everything printed bold shows up in the black weight. In addition, the page headers are the italic weight with unkerned artificially scaled small caps. Regardless, I expect to enjoy the read.

The cover illustrations appear to be from Ernst Haeckel’s Kunstformen der Natur, and I could not imagine any choice more appropriate for horror writing from this era.
