Located in the city centre of The Hague, The Grey Space In The Middle (or: The Grey Space) is “a space for fundamental creativity where radical relations emerge between people, art, digital culture, science, technology, philosophy and food.” In daily life, this means: exhibitions, parties, dinners, residencies.
The Grey Space was founded by Dimitri Nieuwenhuizen (1971–2017) of design studio LUST and Marijke Cobbenhagen in 2017. The creative hotspot also hosts workspaces, in the former class rooms of its original existence as De Vrije Academie (1947–2012/15), and its short existence as Gemak (2012–2015).
Their identity, by Collective Works, uses the Light and Light Italic styles of ABC Favorit throughout – all lowercase for wayfinding and the poetic window lettering, and used with capitals on their website and socials (design by Buurmen / Soft Turbo).
