A lock-shaped specimen from the massive collection of hotel doorhangers by Edoardo Flores, swiped from Nairobi’s Hilton International.
“Do not disturb” appears to be set in the Shaded style of Innsbruck, Phil Martin’s appropriation of Jay Gothic. His 1974 version for TypeSpectra is distinguished from Jay H. Schechter’s 1963 design by a few details including rounded dots. The Swahili text, “Usisumbue”, uses ITC Avant Garde Gothic, with an upside-down W repurposed as M.
