Afterall Research Centre is based in Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. Through research, publishing and programming, we explore the value of contemporary art and its relation to wider society.
During the summer of ’23, we oversaw the launch of their new content platform afterall.org, boasting over 1,000 published items and counting.
When Afterall first approached us, we immediately understood the objective: to enhance and elevate the online reading experience. After extensive workshops and analyses, we restructured their entire platform. By providing them with flexible publishing tools, we enabled the swift and elegant creation of articles and meaningful content.
Limiting the use of their custom-made typeface Afterall by A2-TYPE to headings, and special elements such as quotes, the subtle and unique details of this unique typeface are emphasised even more.
Using the open-source font Inter by Rasmus Andersson as the supporting body font not only assured enhanced legibility and readability. It also created a more interesting typographic dynamic with Afterall, resulting in a balanced contrast in their online branding.
