Gather Vacations
Halyard Display by Darden Studio is the brand typeface of Gather Vacations.
Gather Vacations is a vacation rental service with a focus on local and professional property management. The company approached California-based designer Sam Baber to help reposition and build a new brand as it set out to expand to new markets.
Baber worked closely with the Gather team to select and trademark the name and craft the brand identity including the foundational brand strategy and brand copy as well as designs for the various touchpoints. The typeface family used across all media is Halyard Display.
On the websites of Gather Vacations and the Elite Pacific Vacations subbrand, the modern sans is used in numerous styles, spanning five weights from Light to Bold plus occasional italics. Baber also developed a modular grid-based illustration system centered around an arcade-shaped window. This rounded out a flexible design system that can be easily activated in any region of the country.
The flexible design system comprises attractive photography, the brand symbol, and Halyard Display.

Halyard Display is also used for the website of Elite Pacific Vacations. Specialized on Hawaii, the firm is part of the Gather Vacations family.
