I love the way Albertus matches the style of Svenolov Ehrén’s woodcut illustration. It’s not clear whether Ehrén designed this cover (including the type) or if he was only responsible for the artwork. The Delfinserien (Dolphin Series) book covers used a variety of typefaces.
Hmmm, not sure I really like this typeface; perhaps it’s just the way it makes me feel – the cover feels like it could be for a book given as part of a class exercise in the 1970s or 1980s to read and study. It feels musty and fusty.
Is it the typeface per se, or rather the way it is used here? Find out by looking at Albertus in more contemporary uses!
Stephen, yes I realized that. I could tell the first moment I saw it. I could almost smell the old, cracked binding and yellow newsprint pages from here :)
I guess it’s just not my thing.
