Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs is the tenth studio album by American punk rock band Alkaline Trio. It was released on January 26, 2024 on Rise Records.
John Yates of Stealworks designed the album art. He used Century 725 BT Black for the X, with some modifications. Inside the glyph’s diagonal, the title is set in red caps from Marvin Visions. The band logo predates Yates’s involvement – he did several albums for Alkaline Trio – but he chose to redraw it, based on the source typeface, Lafayette. It has been used at least since the debut album from 1998. The supporting font used for the lyrics and other things within is Futura PT Medium (not shown here).

Alkaline Trio has their own font actually. Based on Lafayette, but their version is called Damnette 97 and is free to download at damnette97.com
Thanks for the pointer, Andreas. I’ve made a page for Damnette 97. Good to know about this digitization of Lafayette! It’s not the font used for this album cover, though, or for any of Alkaline Trio’s previous releases. For one, it’s not a perfect match. Also, it was first released in June 2024, thus after Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs came out.
2. Damnette 97
3. Gable Antique Condensed SG
4. … and Lenbach
I don’t know in which form Lafayette was used here. It’s neither Gable Antique Condensed SG nor Lenbach (two digitizations that actually follow Concordia, a German recutting of Lafayette). There might have been another 1990s digitization that Heather Hannoura used for the band’s logo and the cover art of their early releases. Chances are the band name on Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs was reproduced from a previous application, without using a font directly.
