“Le seul cinéma au Canada sans projecteur / The only cinema in the USA without a screen” is a new visual identity for the Haskell cinema in Stanstead, on the Canada-US border.

The cinema becomes a meeting point between the two countries, with an H logo symbolizing the building’s two doors, one opening onto the USA, and one onto Canada. The H becomes the perfect vehicle for images and information, grounding the look in its agile flexibility. The wordmark, set in Feliciano Type’s Sebenta sans serif, brings an old-world charm to the identity, while the H, loud and proud with its bracketed serifs, sits confidently in all applications from posters to popcorn. Elsewhere, to balance the institutional look of Sebenta, Editorial New and Neue Helvetica were chosen to ensure the building’s heritage and the approach of combining historical references with contemporary typography. The distinctive pastel colors and typography combine tradition and modernity with a unique floral ornamentation, a nod to the stained glass windows, book lettering and decorative architectural aspects of the building.
