The designer of the zine, Maxim Ilyinov, writes:
Marina Monka’s Travel Diary is a series of works by a neurodivergent artist and cleaning lady, based on her trip to Paris. The print run was minimal, just 30 copies.
Each diary was sewn on an old manual book-binding machine with colored threads, red and blue, which (together with one missed stitch) form the French flag. The zine is part of the AMINAZINE set — a publishing series of zines about exceptional artists.
The fact that this zine is in collections such as the archives of Garage and Centre Pompidou is not my merit. It’s all, of course, due to the amazing art, and maybe a little bit of Retros. Just set it larger, and that’s it — the layout is ready.
The zine is set in Retros, page numbers are hand-drawn and Neutral is used for presenting information in smaller sizes, such as on the biography page.
