SOLAR: Design Researchers in Residence exhibition and catalog

Solar brings together the work of the four 2023/24 Design Researchers in Residence. The projects featured in the display explore our changing relationships with the heat and light of the sun through multidisciplinary and collaborative work.
Their projects touch on the heat of the internet, the changing scents of plants, the architecture of the conservatory and the contested restoration of Scotland’s peatland bogs.

Amandine Forest-Aguié of Malice Studio designed the visual identity and the catalog:
The design concept plays on using the sun as a tool to create, based on a method of printing called cyanotype, which uses sunlight, and each copy includes a limited-edition dust jacket made from test prints.
The publication has been printed with solar-powered presses by Generation Press.
The design uses Neureal Mono by Laura Csocsán for titling and display applications, paired with Mathieu Triay’s Bricolage Grotesque for body text.
