  1. This French schoolbook is another Mistral/Vendôme pairing from the same era.

  2. I’m not sure, but I think this is designed by Atelier du cœur meurtry.

  3. Merci, Joseph! According to Wikipedia (translated),

Editions Zodiaque is a publishing house created in March 1951 by Dom Angelico Surchamp at the Burgundian abbey of Sainte-Marie de la Pierre-Qui-Vire (Yonne), where the majority of the collections were published and printed.

In 2002, the abbey decided to close Éditions Zodiaque, which was bought by the La Vie catholique group and integrated into Desclée de Brouwer.

The Atelier du Cœur-Meurtry was the monastic workshop of the Abbaye Sainte-Marie de la Pierre-qui-Vire. It was likewise initiated by Surchamp, whose “aesthetic research aimed to reconcile the Church with modern art”.

The abbey’s ateliers are credited for Itinéraires Romans en Provence from 1978 and for the typesetting, printing, and jacket design for Terres de Bourgogne from 1995 (the laserphoto composition was done at another abbey, Notre-Dame de Melleray).

The abbey’s website mentions four friars who were instrumental in the arts and crafts: Luc Lavergne (1893–1969), Angelico Surchamp (1924–2018), and Yves Vitry (1923–2024) are described as painters, while Yvan de Carheil (1942–2023) initiated a ceramics workshop.

I’ve added the Atelier du Cœur-Meurtry and Angelico Surchamp to the credits.

  4. Wow very nice to see that I was not wrong, and I’m impressed by all the things you found from just this little suggestion!
