    As this album cover was produced in Germany in 1974, chances are the specific fonts in use were chosen from the catalog of Typeshop, a chain of phototypesetting studios active at the time. A 1970s catalog by Typeshop shows both styles side by side, under the names Caslon Arriola Bold Swash and Caslon New.

    The former is a copy of the Swash 9 style of Benguiat Caslon. The original by PLINC wasn’t really available in Germany.

    The latter goes back to the Inland Type Foundry’s New Caslon – which we currently have under the name used by Linotype and Intertype for their adaptations for machine setting, Caslon No. 3.

    I have tagged these canonical typeface entries for now. (To add more confusion, Lettergraphics had a copy of Benguiat Caslon named New Caslon.)
