Hot Dog Radio packaging

Sold in the late 1970s and early 1980s [ads: 1978, 1981], the Hot Dog Radio box is branded with – what else? – Frankfurter. This ray-shaded version of the 1970 Letraset classic is similar to Rock Opera but with fewer stripes. Perhaps another transfer type or phototype outfit offered this style. I love everything about this box, including the “HOT & SPICY SOUND” and the crowd of sports fans holding their sausage soundmakers. Pennsylvania-based Amico manufactured (in Hong Kong and Taiwan) many models of novelty transistor radios, including King Kong, The Pink Panther, and another food-based audio product: the Chocolate Cookie Radio.
