“Giorni d’Estate” (in English: “Summer Days”) is the theme of the 2026 edition of Estate Fiorentina, the City of Florence’s summer cultural program. The visual identity was designed by Giovanna Cianciarulo, a Graphic Design Master student at IED Florence. Developed with the support of AI-based creative tools and later expanded into a series of animated applications by the Florence-based agency Flod.
The city itself never appears directly. Instead, Florence is suggested through an almost imperceptible presence: its silhouette stretches across the landscape like a gentle shadow; the kind of shade sought and appreciated during the summer months, offering relief without diminishing the light.
A key element of the identity is Crescendo by Zetafonts. Its geometric construction, generous proportions, and open letterforms establish a deliberate dialogue with the artwork. The expansive counters and airy structure of Crescendo visually echo the idea of an open field, helping to create a sense of freedom and accessibility throughout the campaign. In the campaign, Crescendo is paired with an unwarped style of Tilt Warp from Andy Clymer, used for the URL. The “Estate Fiorentina 2026” logo uses stretched caps from a bold weight of Source Code.
