KFC used HY ShangWei WanPiHei in its Children’s Day campaign in China. Children’s Day is a cheerful and family oriented occasion, so the campaign needed a Chinese typographic style that felt more playful, friendly, and light hearted. For KFC, this kind of seasonal campaign is not only about product promotion. It also needs to create a happy mood for children, parents, and family customers.
HY ShangWei WanPiHei was a suitable choice for this scene. The typeface has a lively and playful character, which makes the Chinese copy feel young and close to consumers. Compared with a more serious display sans serif, it gives the message a softer and more humorous tone. This helps the campaign look more suitable for a children related festival.
