Armenian Record Archive
Although modern vinyl records are durable and made for extended use, before the 33RPM vinyl, music was recorded on 10-inch shellac discs from the 1880s to the mid-1950s. These records played at 78 RPM and were made from shellac, a brittle material prone to damage and deterioration. With these records now over 100 years old, there’s an urgent need to catalog and digitize Armenian shellac records before they are lost forever. The Armenian Record Archive is a collective dedicated to preserving, digitising, and sharing these records freely so that they can be celebrated by all.
The Armenian Record Archive website is available in Armenian and English, and uses Adelle Sans Armenian and Latin side by side. Which makes sense once one realises that the designer of Adelle Sans Armenian, Gor Jihanian, is a designer and producer of the archive. Gor is also the designer of Fit Armenian, which serves as the display typeface.
The combination of lively character and unobtrusive appearance inherent to grotesque sans serifs make Adelle Sans Armenian an utterly versatile tool for every imaginable situation. Whether for branding, signage, text, or advertising, the key concept behind the entire Adelle Sans family is multiscript flexibility
