Well over 100 international film stars took the stage to introduce screenings and discuss their career. The series was revived at the end of the 1970s as the Guardian Lectures.
The series yielded a number of printed monographs, published by John Player & Sons. In addition to the titles shown, there are also books featuring Carl Foreman – Writer, Director; and Nicholas Ray – Writer, Director, both from 1969.
