The Electric Company was an educational children’s television series produced by the Children’s Television Workshop (now called Sesame Workshop) for PBS. The Electric Company ran for 780 episodes of over the course of six seasons from October 25, 1971 to April 15, 1977, and continued in re-runs from 1977 to 1985.

    Thanks. That brings back memories.

    Presumably the graphic at the top was made for the DVD release. A shame the curves are a bit lumpy.

  2. The classic Franklin Gothic (not the subsequent condensed versions) was the designated typeface for almost all live-action segments that featured a text effect. In fact, only in the first third of its original run was Scanimation not used to indicate the reference number for that day’s episode (in multiple colors and effects), right before the first sketch.
