To answer two recent requests: The Rolling Stone logo doesn’t use a font, but was custom drawn by lettering artist Jim Parkinson.
There is a free font that is said to be based on this logo, made by Dennis Ludlow (Sharkshock) in 2001, originally named Rolling Stone and later renamed to Royal Acidbath, but it neither is very close, nor very good.
