I am under the impression that “THE SIDEWINDER” has been assembled manually from a photostated alphabet Miles might have picked up somewhere — the same letters, with the same little defects (the clumsy-looking W, the R with a slight bump in the lower right part of the stem), show up in other Blue Note sleeves :
Two other examples of the same alphabet in use, with the same slightly-damaged R. Moreover, in “THE TURNAROUND”, the horizontal bar of the Ts has been cut off at one end, or both, to reduce letterspacing (a trick already used in the Grant Green sleeve above).
Font is Bebas Neue
Nah. Bebas Neue is stylistically similar, but it wasn’t released until 2010 (and Bebas in 2005). These album covers are from the 1960s.
