Cukier.works is a website for Warsaw-based creative group CUKIER.

Cukier is a collaboration of young freelancers who are eager to bring immersive change to the digital scene with industry’s finest specialists, as their attitude could only be matched with unconventional design.

For Cukier’s visual identity, a custom typeface was designed by Mateusz Machalski and named after the digital agency: Cukier. For his sans serif geometric typeface, the designer found inspiration in the vernacular typography from the isle of Zanzibar (Tanzania). A lot of letters have intentional mistakes, and this it what makes the whole font unusual. The design was expanded to a typeface family with 10 styles – 5 weights with italics – and released as a retail typeface.
